7 Antique Hand Colored Christian Glass Lantern Slides - Jesus Judas Money etc.

This is a Great lot of 7 RARE Antique Glass Lantern Slides with Hand Colored Views of Christian Scenes. Each slide measures 3 ¼” x 4”, and 4 say along the edges of one side “Underwood & Underwood / New York City”. The 4 Underwood scenes are noted on the edge of another side, and include; Judas Throwing Down Blood Money; Jesus Goes Up to Jerusalem; Jesus Wept Over Jerusalem; & Let Him Be Crucified. The last 3 slides include; The Poor Widow’s Two Mites (makers info on edges says “Economic Series”); Tribute Money (makers info on edges says “Wet Plate Process); & Christ’s Appeal (no makers info). The illustrations were done by all different artists. 4 of the slides say they were from “The Chapel of St. Augustine”, from which they were probably some sort of souvenir. The other 3 slides have a small label on the reverse sides that says they were copyrighted by JJ Tissot, who illustrated a book on the Bible. The edges of the slides have red or black tape by the manufacturer, to protect your fingers from any sharp edges. The slides are in Excellent condition, with almost no apparent wear.
