Description

This is a Great lot of 6 RARE Antique Glass Lantern Slides with Hand Colored Views of Christian Scenes. Each slide measures 3 ¼” x 4”, and says along either edge of one side “Series by Underwood & Underwood NY”. The scenes are noted on the other edge of the same side, and include; First Denial of St. Peter; Second Denial of St. Peter; The Last Discourse of Christ; The Foal of Bethpage; The Man Bearing a Pitcher; & Mary Magdalene’s Box of Very Precious Ointment. The reverse sides of the slides all have a small label with the illustrator’s name “JJ Tissot”, from whose book the illustrations were taken. The edges of the slides have red tape by the manufacturer, to protect your fingers from any sharp edges. The slides are in Excellent condition, with almost no apparent wear.
