In the 37 years of AMA road racing, every bike that took the checkered flag in first place was a four stroke...until Sept. 7 at the Sears Point Nationals.
Then a Suzuki T-500 ridden by Art Baumann won the national 125 mile open road race
Another T-500 ridden by Ron Grant was in second place for over half the race...
...still another T-500 Suzuki ridden by Jim Dunn won the 50 mile Amateur
