Details
Description:
A beautiful crisp uncirculated 1948 ND (no date) second issue by the British Armed Forces. This is the one pound note, which is undated and known to have been issued in 1948 and retired in 1971. The note is lilac over red and blue underprint on the front with the denomination in letters and numbers and an indication that it is a special voucher to be only used as indicated on the reverse. The back has the same color scheme as the front, shows the where the note is valid and has the denomination in numbers and letters. The note has a security thread right of center. It has the denomination noted on both the front and back, has no signatures or water marks. This particular note has the serial number AA/8 812250 in black twice on the front. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date:
1948.
Printer/Issuer:
Thomas De La Rue & Company/British Armed Forces.
Size:
Measures ~5 1/2" by ~2 3/4".
Pick Number:
P M22.
Condition:
I would grade this banknote as a crisp uncirculated with all the details being well preserved. The note has no graffiti or writing, no splits, no tears, and no pinholes. It has no folds, no creases, no wrinkling and no soiling or stains. The corners are squared, intact with no rounding. The note is still stiff, the paper is thick and it retains all of its original crispiness. Note the bottom right corner is a bit dark this we believe is an artifact of manufacturing the banknote and not from handling or circulation. Please see photo for additional condition information.
